King Craig is half character half concept.
The character essentially plays as a metaphor, ‘King Craig’ was envisaged at first as a out of control Ken doll, he stands as an explicit embodiment of contemporary toxic manhood. As in recent years Barbie has more often than not become a mascot for the negative beauty ideal and as a role model is seen as unhealthy and even damaging to young women. ‘King Craig’ as a character serves as a vessel, a hopefully interesting way to begin a narrative about all the worst ways to be a male role model. The name Craig is a name potentially synonymous with any jock stereotype understands himself as a king, a person who is unapologetically ignorant of himself, the way that he treats woman and everyone else around him. The last lines “The shelf is your only redemption, now you know that your heads man made” is reminder that the joke will always be on those who are comfortable being self indulgent.
